Day 60 and I’m back on my sheeeeet!!! Pardon Me…
After a great family weekend, I’m feeling recharged and refocused. The crosshairs have been tuned and adjusted a little bit and the vision is a tad more clear. Today, let’s have a look at two guys who are in the vein of hit-dynamo duo producer groups like Jam and Lewis, Pharell and Chad, Cool and Dre etc. We’ve all been dancing to their hits while they’ve been lingering behind the scenes in obscurity even after creating one of the hottest crossover records to date, see video below. Check the 2:24 mark and you’ll see the producers make an unflattering cameo appearance considering the flamboyance of the video.
This song had women who didn’t even wear or own a thong, dancing wild and out of control and feeling sexy. I don’t party much, I probably could say that I never actually party anymore, but I can only imagine that depending on what club you may find yourself in, that this song may still get the party jumpin’. When this song was “red hot” I didn’t notice at the time, how difficult it must have been for Sisqo to not drip silver dye or paint everywhere from sweating while jumping all over the place.
To get to the nuts and bolts, “The Thong Song” was produced by Tim Kelley and Bob Robinson aka Tim and Bob. The song was nominated in 2001 for Best R&B Song, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. The song didn’t win that year, however they’d already had success by winning Grammy’s for Best R&B Album in 1994 and 1995 for (II – Boyz II Men) and (CrazySexyCool – TLC) respectively. For the average listener, Tim and Bob began to really be a “branding” name with the emergence of artist, Bobby Valentino boasting songs like “Slow Down” and “Tell Me.” They’ve produced for the Who’s Who of the industry and are one of my favorites as I like their production, songwriting and just as important, their low-key, out of sight profile. Speaking of out of sight, where is this brotha??
