DAY 175 GRAMMY CHASE: NIGHT OF GMA
DAY 169 GRAMMY CHASE – GMA LAUNCH
Just in case you’re not in the KNOW….now you know!! High-powered evening on the horizon and I suggest you do yourself a favor to be there.
DAY 113 GRAMMY CHASE: REAL LIFE HEROS & LOVE

I’m feeling like dedicating today’s Grammy Chase to LOVE. My entire quest has always been driven by discovering what it is that I TRULY LOVE to do. Among many things, like drawing, making music and writing, inspiring others has always been something that I was most passionate about and in love with. But one thing that has seemed to elude many people, no matter how wealthy or successful, is ‘LOVE’, whether love for self or more particularly the ‘Love of a Lifetime.’ I fortunately have found the Love of a Lifetime, and the couple who inspired me most was Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis. Before Ossie’s passing in 2005, they were married for more than 50 years as lovers, business partners, activists, oscar nominated actors and most currently, GRAMMY WINNERS!…Isn’t that something? My favorite couple nominated for the coveted Grammy I’m chasing. At the 49th Grammy Awards, they were awarded Best Spoken Word Album (Includes Poetry, Audio Books & Story Telling). This particular year, 2007, they were tied in sharing the award with Pres. Jimmy Carter.
I define success as making a lucrative career in doing something that you love and being able to share with someone that you love. May you find what you love to do and someone you love do it with.
DAY 84 GRAMMY CHASE: THE QUEEN OF COMMON
Say what!? Two Grammy Award Winners, also two of Hip Hop’s most positive artists together on the silver screen? GET…OUT!!!….WOW. This could do SO much for Common if the movie is smash. One thing is for sure, the ladies will flock to see Common and Latifah is just an all around pleasure to watch, she’s seasoned in Hollywood and I think she’ll command an more than decent audience as well. Go Hip Hop!!! I do however smell some ”Love and Basketball” undertones.
RIDE FOR CANCER
I have a good friend of mine whom I haven’t seen in a while, but through another friend I was told that his mother was very ill from Cancer. Not really able to find the words or actions of encouragement, I feel frozen and unsure of what my next step should be. Of course I could call, as emails and phone texts aren’t what a friend would send to a friend in need. So, while I contemplated what to do or say I received an email from an associate of my sister’s, our friend Carmel, regarding how she annually participates in the Riding for Cancer to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research and it was just a great time to get it the email considering what my buddy is dealing with in seeing after his mom. So, Thanks Carmel for reminding me just how important it is for support in numbers and to have action prevail over doubt and second guessing efforts in how to help someone affected by Cancer. In reading this post if you would be so kind as to donate in small or in as large as you can to enable Carmel RIDE RIDE RIDE, as this year she is riding for a her brother. You can read all about her story and efforts and donate here.
God Bless and Thanks.
Peace

FEB.10 – MARKS 3 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
For those of you hip hop enthusiasts, i’m doing this less than a week in advance, but I would like to tip my hat to one of the most creative and brilliant producers the industry has ever seen. Taken early from the world, the genius of James “J-Dilla” Yancey lives forever. He would have been 34 on Feb. 7.
Those of you that are familiar with his body of work and his craft, do yourself a favor and read the following first-hand account from Roots Crew member, QuestLove as J-Dilla makes a beat. HERE!!
Also: THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THIS
THE ONE AND ONLY…5
For all you lovers of REAL soul music. No matter how many attempts are made, from New Kids on the Block, New Edition, Hi-Five, Soul 4 Real, BackStreet Boys, Menudo, Brutha, Debarge, etc.. etc…etc… NEVER WILL THERE BE ANOTHER!! Luckily and Thanks to YouTube, we don’t have to say Goodbye to the good times nor the good music. Enjoy!!!
NOTE: Mike seems to be singing live for sure, but his brothers don’t have mic..so their must’ve been back up singers elsewhere in the studio. Also, neither guitar has a plug/wire coming from it…hmmm…
A TOUCH OF CLASS

The CLASSIC is here! THIS JOINT RIGHT HERE….It’s a MUST have!
One emcee, one DJ, no featured rappers! How unheard of is that!? When you pick up your favorite rappers cd, you’ll often wonder who’s album you actually purchased due to each song having a darned featured rapper or singer on it. We’ll the CLASSIC is nearly 60 minutes in length of some of the most creatively written and jaw-dropping rhymes to date from Edreys, capturing the definition of emceeing. Also, DJ LoPro cleverly mixed these 20 burning “hot” tracks with interludes, original sampled songs along with cuts and scratches, exhibiting what DJ’s are supposed to do, which is move the crowd and give you some ear candy.
On this Cd, Edreys refreshes the “Freshest” of songs that we remember and hold dear, with all new original lyrics and a performance all their own as not to try and recreate a classic song, but reclaiming the sound.
On “The Story” Edreys tells a street tale about how one man rises and falls in the drug game, parallel to the straight and honest rise and fall of another man in the music industry and how their lives intertwine and their inevitable confrontation. This story is told over the ever-popular “Children’s Story” by Slick Rick.
Get it now!
