Check out the interview with “Nobody’s Smiling.”
The album name has changed since this interview, and the snow is hopefully melting for good, well at least for the next couple months at least, but it’s still a pretty good interview/read. Made possible by Media Music, Mina J and Melanie Cornish. Peace!

Well, back to some images that I took while in San Fran.
Each day, I would just get out and hit the streets and seek anything musically or artistically interesting. I didn’t do any shopping. I think it’s very silly to travel to a place, any place, and be impulsed to buy something because in your mind you think you are getting something extra-special and new because you aren’t shopping in your hometown. FOOL! You know that most likely, the same jeans you buy from the Gap in San Fran, are the same ones you’ll find on sale weeks later when you get back home and go shopping. So, no shopping!!
Since I was roaming alone, well, if you want to get technical, my phone was on roam too…but, since I was solo, I had to make my travels cool and interesting, so I was doing this thing called PIC and GO! There is a “pick and go” term and actual play that is used in basketball, but PIC and GO was something a little different. I love taking pictures, and getting a good composition in the view finder (frame), but to have some fun, I would just pull out the camera, while walking, never losing a step, stick out my arm, point the camera in the general direction of my subject and then “CLICK.” PIC and GO!

They have a bus transportation in San Fran called the MUNI..and of course in typical out of towner fashion, I asked the ticket counter agent..”Can I catch the MUNNY (money) to the Haight/Ashbury area?”
“Sure idiot! You can catch the MUNI (Mm-You-Knee)…Now GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!!!”
Classic! Whatever happened to classic music? Whatever happened to the music that takes you back to a particular place and time, normally a good time, preferably a great time? The kind of music that you could dance around the house to with your mom and not feel embarassed one bit. The cleaning your house and doing chores on Saturday music.
I’ve just been informed that they dont make those anymore. How unfortunate for the youth today, that will probably only have a Mary J. Blige album to look back upon, or a John Legend, or maybe a Kanye, or maybe an Edreys..ha!
Back in the days, 80′s and 90′s, there were tons of musicians crafting memorable gems for us to go back and unearth one day. Well, today is that day, thanks to DreHow at Media Music Group, he’s got me started on this thing where I HAVE to post my classic, most inspirational music here.
Classic 1…
Group: LOOSE ENDS
Time: 1990
Place: Roller rink with my mom and her sisters..GETTIN IT IN on the floor…
Lyric:
You’ve got to tell yourself
Try and you will progress
There’s more to life than you know
Don’t give up the fight
Take one day at a time
You just got to have hope
While in San Francisco, California, I was very surprised to discover that the weather wasn’t that much different from home. It was windy and cold, of course minus the snow, which is getting very annoying here in Buffalo I might add.
I have lots of pics to share, but these two pictures are a part of my “Ever List.”
1) The THICKEST orange peel EVER!
*I have average man nails, but I needed to use my swiss army to get the peel started. I had to work for that California citrus but it was worth it.
2) The STEEPEST street EVER!
*The hills are vicious in San Fran, they really, REALLY gave me a workout. I’m talking about BLOCKS and BLOCKS of hills. I walked so many uphill blocks once, that I nearly walked out of my socks. I got to my destination and my calf-high sports socks were like “footies” and scrunching into my shoes by the heels..lol.
*Some of the things you don’t see on these hills:
The Elderly. Parents with strollers. Rollerbladers. Skateboarders….for good reason I suppose.
Check out this blog where B.Scott showed Edreys some LUV for the I LIKE IT video.
I told ya’ll, we have plenty, MAD material…but as long as you are all LIKING IT…
WE LIKE IT TOO!

Just got word about this cat and just checked out his video and I am highly impressed on what he’s bringing to the table
The name is Edreys (pronounced E-drees) is hailing from Buffalo, New York His style is similar to that of Common, Lupe, Kanye and Nas. From the recent press release he’s got a lot going from him: going on this years Warped Tour, performing on Jimmy Kimmel, another video and more.
The thing that really stood out after getting notice of this cat is that he’s more than ‘just’ an emcee. He handles his business as seen on his own blog which shows he does some painting as well (and pretty fly if I do say so myself).
Again, don’t JUST take my word for it – peep the video below. Low budget does not mean it has to be done in the hood, so please take notes and look for this cat when he rolls through. Make sure you hit up his myspace as well:
I’m kind of going out of order, from the most recent to the older activity, but what difference does it make. I’ll eventually get to the San Francisco trip with pictures in due time.
So, most recently I performed at Merlins in Buffalo as part of the “Green Giants Tour” with Loki (BKLYN), Atherton (CAN), Pauly Rhyme (The BAY) to name a few. Much respect to the Merlins crowd, which was possibly one of THE best shows in Buffalo in years…truly! This was my first time ever being inside of Merlins, as from the outside I assumed for years that I would not be welcomed for no other reason but for the fact that I don’t own chaps, a ZZ Top beard, a Harley or any hardcore body ink and piercings…word!!
I hate to paint that kind of picture, but that’s the vibe I always sensed during the times that I have passed by it. But, I was wrong I guess. It was a very pleasant show and atmosphere that evening for all the hip hop community performers and supporters. Although, I MAY be feeling the false sense of acceptance at Merlins, since there were no chaps, ZZ Top beards, or Harley Davidsons in the vicinity during that night of hip hop. Oh well! They missed a dope show.
Notes:
*My man Covito (what up!?) kept the performance order running nice and smooth. I HATE waiting all night to rock! Which wasn’t the case that evening. All acts were on point.
* My man J. Young surprised me by making his appearance at the show. I think it was his first time seeing me live. Thanks for the support Holmes…!
*Quetta and Aaron…Always good seeing you Q, and a pleasure to meet Aaron finally. I thought you may have been making him up for a while. (imagination..lol)
*Lo Pro, Loki, Pauly, Type Rel, Constant Cly, Trev, all the party people and lastly…my DAD! First time he’s seen his boy rock the mic in years.
(Above) THE MOTIVATOR (It aint hard to tell…again..and again..)
One “little” BIG reason to smile. I go home with her every night…Now THATS something to smile about..LOL.. We are standing next to one of the first “original” drawings that I sold from my first solo art show. MO’ reasons to smile…Beautiful thoughts yield beautiful things. luv you Lex!
(Above) ONE TWO PUNCH
The Givens Girls…well two of the three anyway….once again…
my advice for the day…
“keep some good people around you and good things may find their way into your life.”
You LOVE how I spin words around…Playa Haters..Playa Haitus…get it?!?….
WHATEVER…i thought it was a clever play on words.
Anyways, I was on a very long vacation without much technology, therefore my blog reflected my absence. But there is always good news, like…
1) I wasn’t locked up
2) I’m not writing you from the prison library computer, hence good news #1
3) In the words of DJ Khaled…I’m still…”THE BEESSSSST”
I was out in San Fran for a nearly a week without my Mac, BUT I took lots of pictures and have many things to share and talk about. So, make sure you check back…unless I hit you first.
