SEEING SPOTS

hoover-big

Congratulations to my friend Ani Hoover (painter), who has recently had her artwork added into the collection of the Burchfield-Penny Art Center. While I was performing in the gallery space, her piece was directly in my line of sight. Awesome job Ani! Visit her website and check out more or her work. HERE
Below is a close up detail shot.

YUP, IN MY BILLY TEE!!!

bdw-fan

At the 30+ hour Grand Opening of the Burchfield-Penny Art Center on November 22, just as I was about to take the stage, the young lady above gave me all the motivation I needed when she revealed her Billy Drease Tee. I’m always ready and prepared to rock, but this particularly gave me the extra spark. Thanks Summer!!!! Thank God for people who KNOW what good music sounds like. Oh, and she asked for me to sign the back of her t-shirt, during which my friend Trev made me aware that I left a word out, so I had to add the little insert ^ thingy…LOL!

MOTIVATION

Producer/Director:QFW (fana)

For about 2 years now, my partner Brian and I have been committed to giving back to the community via our non-profit organization, The Village’s Children. We focus on life skills, money management, education, career and many other aspects that assist students in becoming their greater selves and achieving their goals.
The clip above should sum it up. Thanks to Trey, Antoine and Kevin for the opportunity.

RAP GROUPS IN THE 1940′s

3-chefs-rap

Hard to believe? A rap group in the 1940′s?
This right here is some dope, DOPE footage of 3 guys called “The 3 Chefs” rapping about…
being chefs!! How they cook up a meal and how fresh they are, ya know braggin like rappers do.

They also work a dance routine into it as well. Soulja Boy eat your heart out.

MORE ILL DANCE MOVES

You’ll have to dig the jazzy singing first, but after about 1 minute into the clip, the chef is bring the food out and “He’s had ALL that he can stands…and he CANT stands no more!!” – Popeye quote for your slow-pokes. These dudes are SICK AND SLICK with their tap moves. I’m not sure how accurate this info is, but give respect to Samuel Green (tip), Ted Fraser (tap) and ‘Ray Winfield” (toe) aka TIP, TAP and TOE.

STEP YOUR GAME UP

The Nicolas Brothers! All that I can say is “Deeeeeeyaaaam”
Break Dancers, Krumpers, Two-steppers…PAY ATTENTION!!!

Excuse the pictures, as they are a little smaller than usual, but nevertheless a snap shot of the moment. I had the pleasure of being the “first” hip hop act to perform at the new $3 million Burchfield-Penny Art Center building on Saturday, Nov.22.

From what I gather, hip hop wasn’t the entertainment of choice in the initial grand opening planning, but I’m grateful that I was given the opportunity to show and prove that my brand of music can be fun, positive and entertaining. Thanks Don!
The crowd was massive and more diverse than people would imagine a hip hop performance to be: Babies in strollers, foreign students, high school students in Nike Air sneakers, mid-age women in fur coats, skateboarders, parents, singles, etc…………….All having a good time in the name of love, peace and hip hop.

DJ’s LoPo and Cutler. Plus by nephew, B-Boy X who tore the roof of the joint with his poppin and lockin moves.

2000 IN 1995

I’m on my old school game right now as you can see.
Check out how “old” the hi-tech equipment looks in this video. 1995!
Grand Puba’s album was called 2000, which was one of the dopest and most slept on albums in the past 13 years. My cousin Mike put down with this album when it dropped. What a summer we had!!

THE ROBOT VOICE

kurtis-blow

(BTP) – Before T-Pain: LOL…
Check out the pioneer rapper Kurtis Blow with the old school Britney Spears/Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake microphone. He was using the computer voice back in 1986. T-Pain ain’t got nuffin’ on Kurtis…Huh-Haa!!

Much Props out to my man Mark for posting this sometime ago..last year in fact.
